
University Park, Pa. - With the race for the MLB Draft League First Half Championship coming down to the wire, the Williamsport Crosscutters earned another high scoring victory over State College, defeating the Spikes 10-6 on Friday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The debuting James McCoy led the Cutters offense with a 3-4 night that included a double, 2 RBI and a run scored.
Kyle Schupmann, Nick Barone, and Addison Smith all recorded multi-hit nights for Williamsport with Barone and Smith also adding multiple RBI.
Jacob Limas earned his third win of the season, improving to 3-1, after 1 2/3 innings of perfect relief.
Matthew Mariano earned his first save in his third appearance of the year, throwing the final 1 1/3 innings allowing just one hit and striking out one. In total, Cutters pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts on the night.
The series now moves back to Williamsport for the Fourth of July. The Cutters and Spikes will play at a special start time of 1:05 p.m. on the holiday at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.
