
Williamsport, Pa. - Ryker Walton improved to 2-0, holding Trenton to one run over six innings, as the Cutters picked up a 9-2 win over the Trenton Thunder on Friday night.
Walton utilized his defense, working eight ground outs and five fly outs over his six frames. The right-hander struck out two of the 24 batters faced.
Trenton got to Walton for one run, a solo home run by Julian Swift in the 2nd inning. That would be the lone run Walton allowed in his season-high six innings of work.
As they have all season, the Crosscutters bats answered, scoring two runs in the Bottom of the 2nd inning. Jake Kail, ripped a RBI single to right to score Sam DeCarlo for the tying run. Joey DeMucci plated Nicholas Romano with a RBI ground out to give the Cutters a 2-1 lead.
Williamsport opened the game in the Bottom of the 3rd inning, scoring six runs on nine hits while sending 11 batters to the plate.
DeCarlo opened the scoring with a RBI single to up the lead to 3-1. That started a stretch that saw seven-straight Cutters collect a hit, including a two-run single from Jake Kail and a two-run single from Owen Prince.
DeCarlo plated the last Cutters run of the night with a RBI single in the Bottom of the 5th, scoring Chris Stanfield, making it 9-1.
Joel Tornero entered in the Top of the 7th inning, making his second appearance and first in relief. The left-hander allowed one run over his three frames.
Tornero struck out five Thunder batters while allowing three hits and a walk as he earned his first save of the season.
Williamsport looks to run their win streak against Trenton to five-straight Saturday night. First pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Journey Bank Ballpark
