Williamsport, P.A.- Garrett Wallace and Will Fuenning homer to pace the Cutters offense, in their 7-4 win over Trenton.
Starting Pitcher Shaun Gamelin set the tone for the Crosscutters in the 1st inning, working around an early base runner to post an early zero.
Williamsport plated a pair in the bottom of the 1st inning, getting a RBI double from Adam Becker and a RBI single from Buddy Dewaine to make it a 2-0 game early.
After another scoreless frame from Gamelin, Williamsport collected three more runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Jalen Greer picked up a RBI single. Becker added a sacrifice fly and Greer took home on a throwing error to make it 5-0.
Will Fuenning deposited his home run over the left field wall, opening up the bottom of the 3rd inning, giving the Cutters a 6-0 lead. For Fuenning it was his first home run as a Cutter and the Crosscutters first home run of the 2nd half.
Gamelin allowed a couple solo home runs over the core of his six inning quality start, picking up his 2nd win in as many starts. The Rhode Island College product allowed two runs on seven hits, a walk and struck out two.
It was an auspicious start for the Cutters bullpen, as James Reilly allowed the first two batters of the 7th to reach, both of which would score, cutting the Williamsport lead to 6-4.
Garrett Wallace had Reilly’s back, homering over the left field wall - is first of the season - to extend the Cutters lead to 7-4.
Reilly worked a scoreless 8th before handing the ball over to Tommy Green. Green was able to induce the game-ending double play.
The Thunder and Cutters will wrap this series up Thursday night, first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
