
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Williamsport Crosscutters allowed a franchise-high, 17 walks, in their 11-2 loss to the State College Spikes on Wednesday night.
Each of the seven Crosscutters pitchers allowed at least one walk, with Dakota Stone allowing a team-high four free passes in a relief appearance.
Cooper Markham suffered his second loss of the season, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks in 2.2 innings of work. The right-hander struck out three batters before getting lifted in the 3rd inning.
The Crosscutters offense was highlighted by a Boston Smith solo home run to lead off the bottom of the 5th inning. Estimated at 368-feet to the opposite field, it was Smith’s 2nd home run of the season and the final run scored by the Cutters.
Smith, along with Matthew Bardowell and Carlos Castillo each finished the night with two hits for the Crosscutters. Bardowell scored the first run of the night for Williamsport, on a fielder’s choice batted by Armani Newton in the 4th inning.
The Crosscutters and Spikes conclude their three-game series tomorrow night at Journey Bank Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
