Slide Continues For Cutters

Williamsport, PA - The Cutters struggles continued as they dropped their third-straight game, 8-3, to the State College Spikes on Saturday night.

Starter Brandon Kaminer suffered his second loss of the season, allowing six runs over five innings of work. Kaminer allowed nine hits and a walk, striking out four in the effort.

The Cutters offense made an attempt at a comeback early, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, getting a RBI single from EJ Taylor and an RBI from Daniel Harris IV to make it a 4-2 deficit.

Logan Bowen took over for the Cutters, working a pair of shutout innings of relief, striking out a pair of batters and working around a hit.

Jonathan Tyler was able to pick up two outs in the top of the 8th, but he was unable to finish the frame, surrendering a pair of runs before Blake Svoboda entered.

Svoboda retired the first batter he faced in the 8th inning, and then worked a perfect 9th to work 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two of the four batters he faced.

Williamsport plated their third run of the night thanks to a balk that allowed Travis Holt to score his 2nd run of the night.

Williamsport had multiple opportunities to plate runs and have big innings, but left nine runners on base, finishing the night 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

The Cutters will try to avoid the series sweep by the Spikes tomorrow evening, first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
