Shallenberger, LaPread Homer in Rout

Williamsport, P.A. – Mark Shallenberger and Ali LaPread each homered, as the Crosscutters bagged the Spikes, 14-3 in the series opener on Monday afternoon at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.

Mark Shallenberger collected his first game with three or more hits, finishing the night 4-for-4 with a home run and two doubles. The Cutters left fielder reached base six times, drawing two walks, and scored four runs.

McGwire Holbrook joined Shallenberger with a 4-for-4 effort, collecting his second game with three or more hits. Holbrook finished with a double, two runs scored and two RBI. The Cutters catcher leads the team with 30 RBI and is now two RBI from tying the Cutters, Draft League era, single-season RBI mark of 32.

Ali LaPread belted his second home run of the season en route to a 2-for-4 day at the plate, driving in a season-high four runs. The Cutters centerfielder scored two runs of his own.

Williamsport tied their season-high with 14 runs scored, and came up two hits shy of their season-high, collecting 17 hits. Their four doubles tie their 2024 season-high and the 13 RBI are a new season-high for the Cutters.

Zachary Murray earned the win, collecting his 8th win of the season, adding to his MLB Draft League record. Murray struck out four batters, giving him 64 on the season, which is a new Cutters Draft League era single season-high, passing current Cutters pitcher, Shaun Gamelin, who struck out 61 in 2023.

Jacob James (4), Murray (4), Luke Baker (4) and Logan Berrier (2) combined to strikeout 14 Spikes batters, tying the Cutters season-high. It was just the second time this season Williamsport struck out that many batters in a single game.

Williamsport heads to State College for the middle game of this three game set, set for a 6:35 P.M. start on Tuesday night.
