Kruglewicz Slams the Door

Williamsport, P.A. – Parker Kruglewicz closed out the Cutters 3-2 win over the Keys, earning his first save of the season.

Emmett Bice was great in the start for the Crosscutters, allowing one run on three hits over six innings. Bice fanned five Keys hitters, but would not factor in to the decision.

Williamsport opened the scoring in the top of the 4th inning, as Levi Perrell crossed home on a Mark Shallenberger double play, making it 1-0.

The Keys tied the game in the top of the 5th against Bice, but the Cutters would respond in the bottom half with an RBI single from Ethan Kiple. Cory Taylor scored on the play to make it 2-1 on Kiple’s first RBI of the season.

Frederick tied the game against reliever Jacob James in the top of the 7th inning, the only run that James would allow in an inning plus of work.

Mikey Florides gave the Cutters the lead for good in the bottom of the 7th inning, using a infield single deep in the hole at short to plate Taylor from 3rd, making it 3-2.

James started the top of the 8th inning, allowing a leadoff double and was lifted for Kruglewicz.

The Winthrop product struck out two of the three batters to get out of the 8th and then struck out two of the three batters in the top of the 9th inning, earning the save.

It’s a League-wide off day tomorrow. The Cutters head to West Virginia to start a three-game set with the Black Bears on Tuesday.
