Williamsport, Pa. – Williamsport opened up the second half of their season with a Sudden Death loss to the Aberdeen IronBirds, dropping to 1-1 in Sudden Death on 2026.
David Case gave the Crosscutters six strong innings in his professional debut. Case allowed just one run on two hits, striking out seven Aberdeen batters in a no decision.
James McCoy was the first to break through on the scoreboard as the Crosscutters center fielder drove a Jonah Johnson offering over the left field wall to open the 5th inning. The 332-foot Home Run was the first of the year for McCoy and his 7th RBI in four games.
Trevor Conley added to the Williamsport lead with a two-out RBI single to right, chasing home Sam DeCarlo to make it 2-0 on Conley’s first RBI of the year.
The IronBirds picked up a clutch hit in the top of the 7th, with two outs, Brylan West ripped a two-run double against reliever Matthew Mariano to give Aberdeen a 3-2 lead. The first two runs allowed by Mariano in four outings this year.
The Cutters rallied in the bottom of the 9th inning, turning a lead off double from Trevor Conley into the game-tying run on a Ehi Okojie sacrifice fly.
In Sudden Death, the IronBirds were able to plate their placed runner, using a bases loaded walk, to take the game.
By League rule, all statistics from the Sudden Death session are unofficial and there are no pitchers of record.
Williamsport wraps up the series with Aberdeen tomorrow evening with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
