Williamsport, P.A. – Mike Hansell held the Scrappers to two runs on one hit, but took the loss, as the Cutters fell 2-1 on Saturday night at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.

Mike Hansell gave the Crosscutters seven strong innings, striking out a season-high eight batters. The loss drops his to 0-4 on the season, as the right-hander lowered his ERA to 5.29.

Hansell’s only true blemish was a lead off home run in the top of the 3rd inning to Issac Williams. Hansell responded by retiring the next 12 Scrappers batters in order.

The Scrappers took advantage of two Cutters errors in the 7th inning, as a fielding error by third basemen Mikey Florides allowed Blake McCrae to reach first with no outs.

With two on and one out, Drew Holbderbach flew out to deep right, McCrae tagged and advanced to 3rd, but Jacob Corson’s throw was mishandled by Cutters shortstop Levi Perrell, which allowed McCrae to score the go-ahead run.

The Cutters offense plated their lone run in the 3rd inning on a seeing-eye single to center by Mark Shallenberger, scoring Porter Brown. For Shallenberger, it was his 14th RBI of the season.

Williamsport had numerous chances to score throughout the game, but finished the night 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position, standing 10 runners in the loss.

Williamsport looks to take this three-game series Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
