Cutters Suffer Another Setback Against Frederick

Road Game - Frederick (2)

Frederick, MD – For the sixth time in eight meetings this season, the Williamsport Crosscutters fall to the Frederick Keys, this time by a final score of 4-3 on Monday Night at Nymeo Field.

Zachary Murray took the loss tonight, falling to 6-2 this season, after allowing all four Frederick runs and all seven Frederick hits, including a two-out home run in the second inning. Murray struck out three batters and walked three batters in his start that lasted 5.2 innings.

Logan Berrier and Parker Kruglewicz combined to throw a perfect 2.1 innings of relief with Berrier striking out one and Kruglewicz striking out two while not allowing a single Keys batter to reach.

Williamsport's offense, trailing 3-0, would respond in the third inning. With one out, Kyson Donahue, Cory Taylor, and Levi Perrell would record three straight singles with Perrell's single driving in Donahue from second. Mark Shallenberger would fly out to center to advance Taylor to third, and Taylor would score on an infield single from Jacob Corson to get the Cutters within a run through two and a half innings.

The Cutters would tie the game up in the fourth inning after Porter Brown reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on Kyson Donahue's second single of the night, and scored on Cory Taylor's second single of the night. Unfortunately for Williamsport, they would not find the scoreboard again after the fourth.

With tonight's 4-3 loss, the Crosscutters fall to 6-15 in the second half of the 2024 MLB Draft League Season, 8.5 games behind first-place Trenton.

Williamsport will look to snap their three-game losing streak as they again face the Frederick Keys at Nymeo Field on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and live coverage will be available at Crosscutters.com and on the MLB.tv App.
