GAME WEB STORY (STATE COLLEGE) (7)

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Williamsport Crosscutters closed out their 2025 season with a 6-4 loss to the State College Spikes.

A.J. Campbell took to the mound looking to build off of an eight-inning masterpiece his last time out. Unfortunately, the State College Spikes were ready for the right-hander, tagging him for five runs on five hits in 1.1 innings of work.

For Campbell, it was his shortest outing out the season, lowering his record to 4-2 on the year and inflating his ERA to 6.05.

The Crosscutters offense continued to struggle against the Spikes staff, as they were limited to just four hits in the loss.

Joey Parliment recorded the lone RBI for Williamsport, chasing home Jackson Mayo with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 1st inning.

Williamsport plated two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, using a Spikes error to plate Marcus Brodil, who had led off the inning with his second double of the series. The second run scored by DJ Smiley on a first and third base running play.

The final Cutters run scored on a double play, grounded into by Joey Parliment, allowing Mayo to score his second run of the game.

Josh Leerssen turned in 4.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Crosscutters. Leerssen struck out five Spikes in his final outing of the season.

Before the game, the Crosscutters named Brad Rudis their 2025 Pitcher of the Year. Rudis finished the season with a 3-5 record and a 3.05 ERA. The right-hander out of Texas A&M set the Crosscutters, single season, Draft League era strikeout record with 69 punch outs.
