Granville, WV – The Williamsport Crosscutters were able to out hit but not out score the West Virginia Black Bears as the Cutters fall 13-5 in the series finale.
Thanks to a few walks and singles by the Black Bears, the Cutters found themselves down 3-0 early.
The deficit wouldn’t last long though as in the top of the fifth Brayland Skinner led off the inning with a bunt single. Tyler Lasch would follow up with a single of his own put runners on first and second. A wild pitch moved up both runners, but it wouldn’t matter where the runners were because Adam Becker followed the Lasch single with a home run, which is his first of the season and tied the game at three.
Williamsport’s pitcher would allow 10 runs over the next three innings bringing the score to 13-3.
Facing the 10-run deficit the Cutters would show some fight as Jalen Greer would lead off the ninth inning with being hit by a pitch. Brayland Skinner doubled putting two runners in scoring position for Tyler Lasch. Lasch would walk, loading the bases for Adam Becker. Becker would collect his fourth RBI of the day with a single, which also moved everyone else up a base. Jose Gonzalez would follow with a walk bringing home another run making the score 13-5. An unlucky lineout by Will Fuenning and Freddy Rojas, Jr. hitting into a double play ended the game for the Cutters.
Williamsport sent Salvatore Ferro to the mound to start, and he was able to get through five and third innings where he allowed eight runs, six earned, on six hits and five walks, but collected four strikeouts. Ferro would take the loss, falling to 0-5 on the season.
David Mata took over and went two thirds of an inning where he gave up three runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout.
Davis Burgin got through two thirds of an inning where he gave up two runs on zero hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
Mitchell Scott went a third of an inning and got the only batter he faced out.
Connor Langrell threw a perfect inning which included two strikeouts.
