Big First Sinks Cutters

CAPERS HOME GAME WEB STORY

Williamsport, P.A.- Williamsport surrendered five runs in the top of the 1st inning, falling 10-1, in the series opener to the Frederick Keys.

Salvatore Ferro made his first home start and was met rudely by the Keys offense, allowing five runs in the opening frame, including a Grand Slam off the bat of Andrew Papantonis.

After the 1st however, Ferro settled in and tossed four-straight scoreless frames, finishing the night with five innings thrown. He would still suffer the loss, his first of the season.

Noah Robinson was the first out the bullpen and worked a scoreless frame in the 6th, despite a single and an error allowing some base runners. Robinson would get tagged for two runs in the top of the 7th inning. He allowed two runs, both earned, over two innings.

Jack Reilly had a tough outing as well, surrendering three runs, all earned, on four hits over an inning of work. Reilly did not allow a walk in the frame, but did record a strikeout.

Outfielder Brayland Skinner pitched the 9th inning, and worked around a couple hits to toss a scoreless frame. Skinner did record a strikeout in the process.

Williamsport cashed in their first and only run of the night in the bottom of the 8th inning as Jose Gonzalez ripped his first triple of the season to straight away center. Adam Becker followed with a single to right, scoring Gonzalez.

The Crosscutters look to find their way back to the win column Saturday night, playing host to the Frederick Keys once again. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
