FREDERICK, MD – Owen Carapellotti (2024) made headlines back on April 19 after he hit his 49th collegiate homer to set the all-time career home run record at Georgetown.
Carapellotti, who played 17 games for the Keys last summer, grabbed hold of the record last Saturday following his two-homer day against Butler, and as a result has 50 career homers and counting in his four-year career with the Hoyas program.
During his 17 games played last summer in the Key City, the Canton, Michigan native finished with one home run and seven RBIs across 59 at-bats, which included a walk-off single on July 9 against the West Virginia Black Bears.
So far in his career at Georgetown, Carapellotti has amassed 172 RBIs and 44 doubles in addition to his 50 career homers. Additionally, he’s played in 195 career games while making 192 starts, all while leading Georgetown to 30-win seasons in his first three seasons in D.C.
In other summer ball experience, Carapellotti spent his 2023 summer in the Cape Cod League after playing 29 games for the Orleans Firebirds. He also had a short stint with the Elizabethton River Riders in the Appalachian League in 2022 following his freshman season at Georgetown.
