FREDERICK, MD – Another 2024 Frederick Keys alumni will make his professional debut this summer as outfielder Keenan Taylor (2024) signed with the Evansville Otters on April 2 ahead of the team’s first game in early May.
Taylor, who started his pro career with the Cleburne Railroaders in the American Association of Professional Baseball, makes the move to Evansville following his 2024 summer in Frederick. He becomes the seventh player from last year’s second half roster to sign a professional contract and will look to make his professional debut in his home state of Indiana later this spring.
Before signing with the Keys last July, Taylor played 10 games for the Morehead City Marlins in the Coastal Plains League and totaled nine RBIs in 40 at-bats. He also spent time in the Northwoods League in 2023 and played in 43 games for the Madison Mallards, leading the team to an appearance in the Northwoods League postseason tournament.
Throughout the 40 games in the second half for the Keys in 2024, the Westfield, Indiana native finished with a .303 average, 21 RBIs, and four homers. His power at the plate earned him a spot in the top five in average on the team and second overall in doubles on the Keys with 13.
Recently, Taylor completed his college career at Purdue and brought home 28 RBIs to accompany a career high .309 average. He recorded a .285 average across his college career and began his college journey at Butler before transferring to the Boilermakers program in 2023.
The Frederick Keys begin their 2025 season against the West Virginia Black Bears on Wednesday June 4 at 7 p.m. at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. The promotional schedule will be released on Thursday, April 24 and single game tickets will go on sale beginning Friday, April 25. The Frederick Keys will host a single game ticket sale starting at 9 a.m. on the 25th, with savings taking place all day long at the Frederick Keys box office.
