Frederick Keys Win on Walk-Off Wild Pitch over Trenton

Frederick, MD– The Frederick Keys (12-12) came from behind to win against the Trenton Thunder (13-12) in a game shortened to seven innings by a final score of 6-5 on Friday night from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

With the Thunder leading 5-4 heading into the final inning in the bottom of the 7th, the Keys loaded the bases with one out for left-fielder Dominic Freeberger (UNC Asheville). Freeberger drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly to center, bringing home pinch runner Logan Sanders (St. Petersburg College). With Grant Jay (Mobile Christian HS) at-bat, a wild pitch brought home Nander de Sedas (Missouri) to score the winning run.

Offensively for Frederick, Freeberger led the way with a game-high three RBI, including two sacrifice flies. Hunter Jump (Kentucky) notched two hits, including an RBI single in the 2nd.

Right-hander Zak Szabo (Sinclair HS) shined on the mound for the Keys, earning the win while pitching 3.0 innings of one-run ball and striking out two out of the bullpen. Left-hander Nick Rupp (UNLV) pitched a scoreless 1-2-3 inning in his Keys debut including his first strikeout of the summer.

Frederick’s next game is tomorrow, Saturday, July 2 against Trenton with first pitch scheduled at 6:00 pm. The Keys will be hosting postgame fireworks presented by Clagett Enterprises.
