FREDERICK, MD - The Frederick Keys continue to see offseason moves as three players from this past season have signed professional contracts. Infielders Brody Fahr and Keenan Taylor, and right-handed pitcher Jay Allmer recently signed contracts to play in the American Association of Professional Baseball next season.
Fahr signed with the Lincoln Saltdogs back on November 21 following his stellar season with the Keys this summer. He finished with a .311 average while driving in 37 runs and posted an on-base percentage of .450. The Presbyterian College product also led the team in games played with 67 and became the record holder for most career games played in MLB Draft League history with 87, after playing 20 games for the West Virginia Black Bears in 2023.
Taylor finalized his contract with the Cleburne Railroaders on November 19 after guiding the middle of the Keys batting order all throughout the second half. The Purdue Boilermaker appeared in 38 games for the Key City this summer and totaled four homers and 21 RBIs. He also finished with a batting average of .303 and had the second most doubles on the team with 13. He plans to take his talents to Cleburne where he'll play for the Railroaders, who finished with 60 wins in the regular season last year.
Allmer will move to the Midwest and play for the Lake Country Dockhounds next season following his remarkable campaign on the mound in 2024. In 17 relief appearances, the Seton Hall Pirate accumulated an ERA of 2.14, recorded eight saves and 17 strikeouts throughout 21 innings pitched. Allmer established himself as the team closer this summer for the Keys after finishing 16 of the 17 games he pitched in and looks to take on a similar role as he prepares for his first stint in professional baseball in 2025 following his signing on November 14.
The 2025 Keys season is set to start on June 4 against the West Virginia Black Bears at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. Further information including game times and single game ticket information will be released at a later date.
