Calhoun Finalizes Contract with Defending Pioneer League Champion Oakland
Aaron Calhoun

FREDERICK, MD – Following 2025 Frederick Keys pitchers Jace Miner and Davis Smith getting signed earlier this fall, Aaron Calhoun joins the list of signees after finalizing his contract with the Oakland Ballers of the Pioneer League on December 1.

Calhoun, who joined the Keys on August 2, heads to Oakland after throwing 10 games out of the bullpen this past summer. He compiled a 3.86 ERA during his time in Frederick and recorded 14 strikeouts. Calhoun will look to bolster the Ballers bullpen after winning their first ever Pioneer League Championship this past September.

The former UT-Arlington Maverick and Oklahoma Sooner totaled eight scoreless appearances while not allowing a run in his final seven outings in the Key City. This included two scoreless frames pitched on August 29 against the Trenton Thunder, as he also fanned a season-high four batters during the outing.

Calhoun arrived in the MLB Draft League after completing his senior season at UT-Arlington last spring. In his final college campaign, he tossed 18 games in relief and amassed a 4.58 ERA, helping the Mavericks make the third round of the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Tournament.

Watch more future stars as the Frederick Keys make their return to affiliated baseball next season as the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The first home game will take place on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. against the Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees) at the newly renovated Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. Tickets and the promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
