Frederick Keys Swept by West Virginia on Father’s Day Weekend

Keys fall under .500 for first time this summer

Frederick, MD– The Frederick Keys (7-8) fell to the West Virginia Black Bears (5-10) on Father’s Day Sunday by a final score of 7-4 at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

Keys hitters struck out 14 times and stranded 13 runners on base as West Virginia has now won five of six against Frederick this summer.

Starting pitcher and left-hander Cobe Reeves (Coastal Bend College) struck out a season-high 10 hitters in 4.0 innings of work while allowing only one earned run. The Keys pitching staff combined for 16 total strikeouts, setting a new season-high.

On offense, outfielder Hunter Jump (Kentucky) collected a game-high three hits, including a two-run double down the left field line in the 9th.

Frederick will hit the road for a six-game road trip, beginning on Monday, June 20 when the Keys take on the State College Spikes for a three-game series. First pitch for Monday’s game is at 6:35 pm.
