Frederick Keys Snatch Series from Trenton on Saturday Night

Keys win sixth straight over Thunder

Frederick, MD– The Frederick Keys (15-15) defeated the Trenton Thunder (15-16) on Saturday night by a final score of 5-2 from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Keys have now won six straight over Trenton and have now won four straight series against the Thunder in the first half of the MLB Draft League.

Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th, Daniel Figueroa (Indian Hills Community College) singled in a run with the bases loaded to get the Keys on the scoreboard. A batter later, Hunter Jump (Kentucky) grounded a two-run single to left-center which gave the Keys the lead for good, right past the shortstop.

Jake Plastiak (Kentucky) and Joe Zhu (MLB China Academy) both collected RBI on groundouts to extend the Keys lead.

The Keys bullpen of Zack Qin (MLB China Academy), Jeffrey Wilson (Pensacola State), Nick Rupp (UNLV) and Hayden Harris (Georgia Southern) combined for 6.0 shutout innings of relief and seven strikeouts with Harris striking out two in the 9th to earn the save.

Frederick will go for the sweep tomorrow, Sunday, July 10 vs Trenton with first pitch scheduled at 1:00 pm from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. The Keys will be hosting a helicopter candy drop postgame, presented by Advanced Helicopter Systems.
