Keys lose weekend series to Black Bears

Frederick, MD– The Frederick Keys (7-7) have lost four in a row to the West Virginia Black Bears (4-10), with the Keys falling by a final score of 9-3 at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium on Saturday night.

The Frederick Keys defense committed five errors, which matches a season-high and the West Virginia bullpen combined for six innings of one-run ball to seal this weekend’s series over Frederick.

Catcher Grant Jay (Mobile Christian HS) powered his first home run of the summer over the left-center field wall in the 6th.

Out of the bullpen, right-hander Geo Rivera (Walters State CC) made his Keys debut and pitched 2.0 shutout innings while not allowing a hit and striking out one.

Frederick will host West Virginia tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 19 for the third and final game of the series. It will be Father’s Day – Play Catch in the Outfield as part of Sunday Funday, presented by GloFiber.
