Logsdon, Williams Homer In Win

Williamsport, PA - Lance Logsdon and Edarian Williams each homer as the Cutters plated a season-high 13 runs, defeating the visiting Scrappers in the series opener.

The Cutters offense jumped out to an early lead, as they have done most of the home stand, plating three runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. 2B Edarian Williams highlighted the inning with a two-run double to left, giving the Cutters a 3-0 advantage.

Mahoning Valley would answer with three of their own in the top of the 3rd inning against Cutters starter Cam Robinson, who made his debut. Robinson worked three innings, allowing the three runs.

The Scrappers plated a pair in the top of the 4th inning against reliever Riley Ornido to take a 5-3 lead. Ornido allowed the three runs over two innings of work.

1B Lance Logsdon bailed out Ornido, sending a Derrick Cherry offering 376’ over the wall in left for two-run shot to tie the game at 5-5. It was Logsdon’s first home run of the season.

Mahoning Valley got a their third run off Ornido in the top of the 5th when Bobby Sparling homered to left, giving the Scrappers the lead at 6-5. It would be the final run for Mahoning Valley.

Williamsport took the lead back in the bottom of the 6th plating a pair of runs, one of which scored on a Logsdon double to right, giving the Cutters first baseman his 3rd RBI.

The Cutters broke it open in the bottom of the 7th inning, scoring six runs in the frame. RF Cole Evans plated a pair with a two-run, two-out single. 2B Edarian Williams followed with a three-run home run to left, traveling 368’ feet for his first home run of the season, and giving the Cutters a 13-6 lead.

For Williams, it capped off a 5 RBI night.

Creed Watkins earned the win as he, Andrew Walling and Lex Garcia combined to shutout the Scrappers over the final four innings of the game.

The Crosscutters look to take game two from the Mahoning Valley Scrappers tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
