Williamsport, PA - The Crosscutters returned home and continued their winning ways, handing the Mahoning Valley Scrappers a 6-1 loss to open the series.

Starter Nick Meyer continued his dominance on the mound, working 5.1 innings before being forced to leave with an apparent hand injury. Meyer allowed one run on four hits, and struck out seven before his departure.

LF Taylor Jackson got the scoring started for the Cutters, leading off the 1st with a 382-foot home run to left, his first of the season, giving the Cutters a 1-0 edge.

In the 2nd inning, the Cutters plated four more runs, with RF Connor Denning’s two- run single highlighting the offense. Jackson also plated a run in the frame and 2B Jesse Hall scored on a throwing error, giving the Cutters a 5-0 lead through two.

The Scrappers run came in the 4th inning, but that would be all they would muster against the Cutters pitching staff.

Meyer struck out the first batter of the 6th inning, but had to exit after the punch-out. RP Jesse Bolt entered and didn’t miss a beat, striking out the first batter he faced. Overall, Bolt retired al five batters he faced, striking out a pair.

SS Daniel Harris IV added a run for the Cutters in the bottom of the 7th inning, chasing home Denning with a single through the right side. The hit extending Harris’ on-base streak to 18-straight games.

RP Tyler Prospero made his Crosscutters debut and walked the first batter he faced. Prospero rebounded and retired the next six batters he faced, striking out two, to close out the win for Williamsport.

The Crosscutters play host to the Scrappers tomorrow night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
