Spikes fans and community members can help bring attention to the effort to #SaveOurSpikes by writing elected officials at the federal, state and local levels. Below is a sample letter regarding the #SaveOurSpikes campaign:
However, your letter will be most effective if you put your own personal touch on it! Feel free to use the sample letter above as a base, and add your own language, your own voice, your own positive experiences with the Spikes, and your own view on the impact that their absence would have on you, your family and the Happy Valley community at large.
Here are some other points to be sure to include in your letter:
-
Tell the elected official to whom you are writing that under a Major League Baseball proposal, the Spikes are one of 42 teams in danger of being contracted from Minor League Baseball.
-
Ask the elected official to whom you are writing to publicly support the #SaveOurSpikes campaign, which will enable Spikes fans and the Happy Valley community to show how much the club means to them and how valuable they are as a positive force in this region.
-
For United States Senators to whom you are writing, encourage them to contact the offices of Representatives Lori Trahan, David McKinley, Max Rose, and/or Mike Simpson about the Save Minor League Baseball Task Force, which is working to rally the United States Congress to support the Spikes and all 42 Minor League Baseball teams in danger of being contracted.
- If you are writing to United States Congressmen Keller and Thompson, please thank them for their support of the Save Minor League Baseball Task Force, which is working to rally the United States Congress to support the Spikes and all 42 Minor League Baseball teams in danger of being contracted.
-
Ask elected officials to display #SaveOurSpikes signs at their offices and serve as a location for community members to get their own #SaveOurSpikes signage.
-
Include your personal address and ask for a response.
