(Trenton, NJ) - Your Trenton Thunder, presented by NJM Insurance Group, would like to take this opportunity to thank the best fans in baseball and all of our wonderful partners and sponsors for their continued support during the first half of the 2022 season. The Thunder are thrilled to announce that we drew 100,689 fans over our first 18 home games for an average of 5,593.

"We are so lucky to have the best fans in baseball. We still have a jammed packed promotional schedule for the second half of the season and we look forward to seeing everyone at the ballpark for the remainder of the season.”

The Thunder just missed out on a First Half Championship, finishing three games back of the West Virginia Black Bears (23-15) with a 20-18 record. The Thunder were better playing at Trenton Thunder Ballpark and had a 12-6 record at home during the first half of the split-season format, which will completely alter the roster upon completion of the MLB Amateur Draft.

On Tuesday, June 7, the Thunder played their home opener before a crowd of 7,357 as they defeated the Williamsport Crosscutters 4-3 to start a four-game home winning streak. Later that week, 7,412 fans made their way to Trenton Thunder Ballpark on Saturday, June 11, marking the third time on the first homestand that a Thunder crowd exceeded 7,000.

There were seven postgame fireworks shows during the first half of the season with the biggest one coming after the July 4th win over Williamsport, when a crowd of 6,076 filled Trenton Thunder Ballpark to celebrate Independence Day. There are eight more Postgame Fireworks shows scheduled during the second half of the season:

Coming out of the All-Star Break, the Thunder return home on Monday, July 25 to start their only seven-game homestand of the season, which will feature their first morning game since 2019 on Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00 AM. And on Friday, August 12, Manager Jeff Manto will be inducted into the Trenton Baseball Hall of Fame before the team’s game against the West Virginia Black Bears.

Your Thunder had nine players selected in the recently completed 2022 MLB Draft. Shortstop Nate Ochoa was the first player in the MLB Draft League to be selected when he was picked in the 6th round by the Washington Nationals.
