Frederick Keys Bounce Back Against Spikes in 7-2 Win

Keys snap four-game home losing streak

Frederick, MD– The Frederick Keys (11-11) evened up the three-game series on Wednesday night between the State College Spikes (9-13), defeating the Spikes by a final score of 7-2 from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Keys did not trail the entire game and struck first in the 1st inning on an RBI groundout by Kendal Ewell (Eastern Kentucky). Frederick added on another run in the 2nd on a sac fly from Logan Sanders (St. Petersburg College).

The 4th inning was the big one for Frederick as three runs came in to extend the lead up to five. Daniel Figueroa (Indian Hills Junior College) hit a two-run double down the left-field line and would end up scoring from third while Dylan Hoy (Marist College) was being chased in a rundown between first and second.

Figueroa and Sanders led the team with two RBI each in the victory, including an RBI triple in the 8th by Sanders.

The Keys pitching staff held State College to just two runs on four hits. Starting right-hander Jonathan Pintaro (Shorter University) threw 4.0 shutout innings while striking out three over one walk. Right-hander Luke Pryor (Mount Saint Mary’s) earned the win after 2.0 shutout innings and two strikeouts. Right-handers Jeffrey Wilson (Pensacola State) and Riley LeTourneau (Madison College) pitched shutout innings out of the bullpen as well.

Frederick’s next game is tomorrow, Thursday, June 30 against State College with first pitch scheduled at 7:00 pm.
